2024 Hyundai Sonata

2024 Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai's 2024 Sonata features a number of changes, illustrating Hyundai's forward-looking approach to midsize sedans. Hyundai unveiled the new Sonata earlier this year and, in the process, introduced a new-generation model that will not only get noticed on the road, but also exceed its owner's expectations.

What’s new on the 2024 Hyundai Sonata?

The new 2024 Sonata features a range of interior and powertrain improvements as well, making it a very appealing option for buyers looking for refinement, space, and performance in their next sedan.

Exterior

A streamlined and athletic profile distinguishes the 2024 Sonata from previous models. The aerodynamics have been improved, ensuring not just aesthetics, but also performance efficiency. A notable feature on the front is the Seamless Horizon Lamp, which is integrated seamlessly into the horizontal layout of the car. With this and the wider hidden headlights, the Sonata looks futuristic. Further evidence of Hyundai's redesign is the front grille which has been complemented with larger air intakes, giving the Sonata a more pronounced front end. A new H-light design underscores the car's expansive stance, balancing this assertive look. There's also a black spoiler-shaped trunk lid and an exhaust-shaped treatment on the back, subtly hinting at the vehicle's performance.

These sporty undertones are particularly apparent in the Sonata N Line. Among its unique features are an expanded front bumper grille area, 19-inch wheels, and a rear spoiler. The combination of such elements, coupled with the dual twin-tip exhaust system, accentuates the sporty nature of the Sonata.

As for the color options, the 2024 Sonata features a palette reminiscent of advanced aircraft designs. In particular, the Sonata N Line introduces the stunning Ultimate Red Metallic color this year. A variety of other colors are available for the Canadian market, including Abyss Black Pearl, Serenity White Pearl, Transmission Blue Pearl, and Nocturne Grey Metallic.

Interior

Sonata features a 'floating' design theme on the inside. It is characterized by contemporary details that are in line with contemporary lifestyles, and is further enhanced by ambient lighting. There is also a panoramic curved display inside with a 12.3-inch driver information cluster coupled with a 12.3-inch audio-visual navigation system. This combines the driver information cluster with the infotainment system. The emphasis was set on creating a space that's as functional as it is aesthetically pleasing.

The interior design of the sportier Sonata N-Line emphasizes its athletic personality. Red-accented stitching elegantly contrasts the upholstery, while the cross-metal patterned trim amplifies its dynamic appeal. Beyond aesthetics, the Sonata N Line equips drivers with exclusive features, including Active Sound Design, Launch Control, N Powershift, and Rev Matching, ensuring an immersive and responsive driving experience.

Safety Features

Safety takes center stage with the Sonata's suite of driver assistance features, such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 1.5, Blind-spot Collision Assist, and Lane Keeping Assist. Additional aids include Rear Cross-traffic Collision-avoidance Assist and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go. For added security, the Rear Occupant Alert ensures no one is unintentionally left in the vehicle.

New Versions

The redesigned Sonata returns with gasoline, Hybrid, and N Line models in 2024. The most significant change, however, is the addition of HTRAC all-wheel drive on models powered by the 2.5-litre four-cylinder powertrain.

Powertrain

Hyundai TRACtion AWD

Hyundai kept many of the components of the previous Sonata under the hood of the 2024 model, with one noteworthy addition. The 2024 Sonata will now offer the Hyundai TRACtion (HTRAC) AWD system, known for its all-weather capabilities, paired with the 2.5L engine.

Winter Driving

This impressive all-wheel drive system is designed to optimize torque distribution between the front and rear wheels, adapting to road conditions and driving situations. More importantly, it will make getting through the tough Ontario winter significantly easier. HTRAC employs an electro-hydraulic mechanism, ensuring quicker responses and more precise control over the AWD coupling.

Driving Modes

Sonata offers a Snow drive mode for enhanced safety during difficult weather conditions, ensuring driver confidence on all types of terrain. Additionally, drivers can personalize their experience with multiple drive modes – Normal, Smart, Sport, and Custom – which adjust settings across the engine, transmission, AWD (when equipped), and steering mapping to cater to individual driving preferences.

Engine

There are three types of engines available, a standard 2.5-litre internal combustion engine, the sportier N Line variant, and a hybrid electric motor.
